Ballet Feet Positions

ALL our classes do 1st-3rd.  The more advanced classes add 4th & 5th

First Position1st position: Stand with your hips and feet turned out, heels touching so your feet form as straight a line as possible.

2nd position: Exactly the same as 1st position but with the legs separated by about a foot. (NOTE: I do not like this photo. Weight should be evenly distributed on each foot. Feet should not roll in or out).

3rd position: Stand in the same turned out position as 1st position, but move the heel of your front foot so it is touching the arch of the back foot.

4th position: Again, begin in first position, this time moving your front foot forward about a foot away from the back foot, with both heels aligned on the same line.

5th position: Similar to 3rd position, but in 5th position, you move your front foot so that its heel is in line with the toes of the back foot, fully crossing the legs.
